SUMMARY:Canadian Humanitarian Conference
DESCRIPTION:CISAF moderated a panel discussion entitled “The Cost of Security” at the second annual Canadian Humanitarian Conference\, held in Ottawa from December 4-5th 2014. The purpose of our panel was to raise awareness about the cost of security vs the cost of insecurity\, highlighting the positive and negative impacts that each can have on our organizations. The overall argument\, which each panellist contributed to from his/her own area of expertise\, was that security risk management must be prioritized before a critical incident hits\, and that this prioritization serves as a crucial way by which we can strengthen our programming potential with affected populations\, decreasing costs in the long run. \nWe are grateful to our panellists from The KonTerra Group\, DFATD\, MSF and the Canadian Red Cross. \n
